The Smart Mining track explores the transformation of mining from a resource-extraction activity into an intelligent, adaptive, and accountable industrial ecosystem where data, artificial intelligence, and advanced sensing technologies enable safer, more precise, and more sustainable operations. From discovering mineral deposits to managing extraction, processing, environmental impact, and supply-chain transparency, this track examines how AI, autonomous systems, digital twins, and real-time analytics are reshaping the mining lifecycle. Beyond operational efficiency, it critically investigates the deeper socio-technical mechanisms that determine whether intelligent mining reduces environmental risks, improves worker safety, strengthens accountability, and creates shared value for communities and economies. We invite contributions that move beyond technology-driven narratives to uncover how digital transformation can enable responsible mineral development through improved exploration, safer operations, ethical governance, and inclusive workforce transition.
